Sponsored by the Northwest Area Jaycees, Parks and Trails Commission and the Corcoran Garden Club

In the continued tradition of donating shade trees, the NW Area Jaycees and the Parks and Trails Commission are again offering free shade tree saplings to Corcoran residents. The shade tree giveaway is made possible with funds donated by the Northwest Area Jaycees. Varieties offered include deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs.

Shade Tree Give Away

In 2016, the Corcoran Garden Club began assisting with the distribution of the the trees at the City Park skating rinks/warming house shelter located at 20200 County Road 50. The trees will arrive in mid to late April. In an effort to increase distribution of the trees, orders of up to five trees per household will be accepted as long as supplies last. Trees are reserved, and are on a first-come, first-served basis. In 2017, all trees available through the Shade Tree Give Away were reserved, so please respond to early to secure your 5 free trees! Trees Offered in 2020 Annual Shade Tree Give Away:

Varieties include deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs. The trees are ordered from Wright County Soil and Water Conservation District, the choices are listed below. Several of the varieties are new trees and shrubs, which are pollinator friendly, and some are able to thrive in wet environment.

Additional Links and Information for Large Landscaping Projects

For your larger projects, additional tree orders can be placed at Wright County Soil and Water District. Please visit their website atwww.wrightswcd.org/tree_program.html for complete information. Cost of each tree is about $1.10 each + tax per tree and must be purchased in bundles of 25 for each order. Tree order forms are available and mailed out each February. Please call 763-682-1970 to be added to the notification list.

Corcoran residents interested in purchasing larger bare root trees and shrubs should watch to the City of Plymouth website atwww.plymouthmn.gov/departments/parks-recreation-/forestry/archive-2016-tree-shrub-sale for updates on the annual tree and shrub sale. Non-resident prices apply and vary depending on variety.
