Elections
The City of Corcoran administers city, state and federal elections for its residents on even years. The City is available to answer your questions on voter registration and election information.

Where do I vote?
Corcoran has three voting precincts. Use the Secretary of State’s Polling Place Finder MN Secretary of State to find your voting location, maps, and the districts that represent you.

Voter Registration
If you voted in the last election in Corcoran and have not moved or changed your name, you should already be pre-registered to vote in the next election. If you have not registered to vote and would like to pre-register, you must submit a Voter Registration Application at least 20 days in advance of the next election. In Minnesota, you may register to vote on Election Day at your polling place. To register at your polling place on Election Day, you must have one of the following authorized proofs of residence:

  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license, learner’s permit or receipt of either with current address located in precinct.

  • Valid Minnesota identification or receipt with current address located in precinct.

  • A registered voter in the precinct who can vouch for you.

  • Registration in the same precinct indicating a previous address.

  • Mailed notice from the voter registration office indicating ineffective registration.

  • Students can show their address in the precinct by using a current fee statement and an identification card.

  • Photo identification plus one of the following current bills or statements: utility bill, bank statement, credit card statement, rent payment, mortgage payment or lease agreement.

Minnesotans are now able to apply online to register to vote or update their existing registration, thanks to an application developed by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State and accessed at mnvotes.org

Absentee Ballot Vote In Person
Residents may obtain an absentee ballot at Corcoran City Hall starting 46 days before an election.

For the Presidential Nomination Primary Election, absentee ballots will be available from January 19 through March 4. City Hall will also be open normal business hours and from 10 am to 3 pm. on Saturday, March 2, for absentee voting. For the Primary Election, absentee ballots will be available from June 28 through August 12. City Hall will also be open normal business hours and from 10 am to 3 pm. on Saturday, August 10, for absentee voting. For the General Election, absentee ballots will be available from September 20 through November 4. City Hall will also be open normal business hours and from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, October 26 and November 2, for absentee voting.

Direct ballot voting for the November 5, 2024 General Election begins on October 18, 2024, at the Corcoran City Hall.

Municipal Elections
The City of Corcoran will have four positions on the ballot November 5, 2024. The Mayor (four-year term), two Council Members (four-year terms), and one Council Member (Special Election to serve the remaining two years of a four-year term), positions are at-large positions, representing all Corcoran residents. The candidate filing period July 30, 2024 - August 13, 2024, by 5:00 pm. Candidates can withdraw until August 15, 2024.

Email Questions in Advance or Submit at Event
Voters attending the forum have two opportunities to submit questions to the candidates. Written questions will be accepted throughout the forum. Voters can also submit questions in advance to The League at [email protected]. The League of Women Voters policy keeps the identity of the person asking the question confidential. Any questions submitted via email will remain confidential with all identifying information removed before the event. Audience members will also have the opportunity to submit questions in writing at the event, in accordance with published Forum Rules.
