Position: Community Service Officer
2024 Wage: $26.03/hour
The City of Corcoran is a rapidly growing community on the western edge of Hennepin County. The City is currently accepting applications for a Community Service Officer.
The Community Service Officer provides assistance to the Police Department under the general direction of the Director of Public Safety and Police Deputy Director, within the limitations set forth by state statutes, city ordinances, department policies, and regulations. A variety of assignments may include non-criminal incidents, investigating animal complaints, enforcing parking ordinances, directing traffic, and providing general assistance to residents of the community.
The Community Service Officer supports the Director of Public Safety, Police Deputy Director, Police Officers, and Police Administrative Assistants.
Successful candidates will demonstrate an understanding of community policing and a commitment to building trust within the community through meaningful communication, professionalism, integrity, and teamwork. Successful candidates will also demonstrate the ability to analyze and resolves problems, quickly learn, understand, interpret and apply City ordinances, state statutes, and federal laws, while also demonstrating knowledge of the legal process, chain of custody, methods of handling evidence, and techniques for interrogation of witnesses and suspects. Candidates will also be required to pass a background check, and have a valid driver's license. Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications outlined in the job description.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days. Candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must pass a comprehensive background check and physical exam.
Desired Qualifications:
Additional desired qualifications include previous experience in public safety to include, Law Enforcement Explorers, Police Reserves, or enrollment in a Minnesota law enforcement educational program. Fluency in a second language or sign language is desired.
Employment will be subject to completion of a pre-employment background check. The hourly rate for this position is $26.03 per hour.
