In September, the City Council adopted a preliminary levy for 2018 at the September 14, 2017 meeting. The adopted preliminary levy of $4,013,035, is a $296,870 or 7.99% increase from the 2017 levy. Despite this increase, the tax rate is projected to decrease slightly from 45.994% to 45.599% due to new construction and increased valuations.
A Truth-in-Taxation budget meeting will be held December 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Corcoran City Hall, 8200 County Road 116, Corcoran. This public hearing provides Corcoran residents an opportunity to comment and ask questions on the City’s budget and related levy. No Council action will be taken at this hearing. The final budget and levy will be considered during the City Council’s regular meeting after the hearing. The Council has the ability to reduce the amount of the levy, but not increase it, before the final budget is approved.
